Light wear around spine with light creasing to front cover. I have had a number of serendipitous events in my life which I could never explain and which make no sense whatsoever from a logical standpoint. Therefore, finding a book which addresses this magic in life was a validation of sorts for me personally. Dr. Bach explores this subject in a gentle way. He does not ascribe serendipity to anything other than the way life actually works.

Marcus Bach’s approach is one of understanding and appreciation. He looks at each religion first through the eyes of a believer of that faith and then as an impartial observer pointing out the parallels in that religion and Christianity. THE TITLE Basic Christian Books aptly describes the character of the twelve volumes that comprise this series. They are basic; they are Christian; they are books.

Bach's books espouse his philosophy that our apparent physical limits and mortality are merely appearance. Bach is noted for his love of aviation and for his books related to flying in a metaphorical context. They flew a variety of World War I aircraft of the Blue Max collection owned by ex-RCAF pilot Lynn Garrison. Bach and Garrison first met when Bach wrote articles for Avian, Garrison's aviation publication. Richard Bach's first book, the autobiographical Stranger to the Ground (1963) described the deployment to France of his Air National Guard unit, and was received favorably, for example, by Edmund Fuller in the Wall Street Journal. Marcus Back was a friend and mentor, most of all he was a warm, kind, honorable gentlemen. He wrote many books during his long life
as a writer; but this book remains his greatest legacy. Take a chapter a day, read slowly and with an open heart. It can only bless you and never harm. It is the definitive book on the magic joy of Serendipity.

I found this book to have arrived in my hand in a very serendipitous way which added to the power of the material in the book!! This was a perfect text that spoke to the manner in which events conspire to assist, guide, teach us ... to awaken us!

If you are aware of the coincidences in life and believe that there is a connectivity to these either by religious or other beliefs, then you will love this refresher on life and its incredible happenings. This is a wonderful book to help reground your thinking.

While this was written in the 70s it certainly applies to life as we live it today. It is a positive way of looking at unexpected happenings in our everyday life. I like to randomly pick a page and read it and it never fails to brighten my day.

Un livre édité en 1970 qui donne une bonne idée de la vie "sous serendipity". Ce livre m'a donné plein d'idées !
Once you are aware of this phenonema you will look at these events as being a natural part of what your life is supposed to be - and become. It also is quite fun to open yourself to accepting serendipity. I plan to read other books by this author as he has a knack for explaining concepts which never talks down to the reader but instead allows one to pause to think and say, "Yes, that IS what I have observed!" Also, this is a good book to keep with you while you stand in line waiting at the bank, etc. because the chapters are short and people are invariably interested in the topic and, who knows, maybe meeting one of them will be serendipitous for you.
