I needed it for a class

The inclusion of famous cases such as Elvis Presley and Virginia Woolf lends itself to fascinating material. However, the majority is badly written, and there are several inconsistencies with the DSM-IV. The book was purchased for a class and the professor has adamantly declared that she will never be using the book again.

This book has great case studies, recent information about research in the field, and is very helpful in expounding on symptoms of mental illness and DSM criteria. It is helpful for understanding why and at what point behaviors become potentially diagnostic. It doesn't seem like it will become outdated with the advent of the DSM-5. Great for students in clinical psychology!

This book helped synthesize the conceptual knowledge from the other text and make the point that, in mental health care, it's not all black and white. People are a lot more complicated and present many more challenges, contradicitions and conterindications for "real life" diagnosis than the DSM might address.

I needed this book for a class I was taking, I thought the book was a little hard to follow, but it was the book we were suppose to have

Reading the case studies helped put the diagnoses in perspective. Certainly worth reading!
This textbook does not look like it has any damage at all. Great deal and I look forward to using this textbook.
