Les Hartley points out the flaws of modern society, holding those who "lead the charge" accountable for their own misguided stupidity. Hartley points out the idiosyncracies and often times - the hyprocrisy of those foisted on the shoulders of the common man. His blatant attack on the liberal regime of modern times is both thought provoking and suprising. The terms in which Hartley expresses his contempt for "modern thought" demonstrates his ability to see beyond the curtain, opening it wide for the reader.
