Beware - the CD only has jpg files, which makes it slightly more useful than scanning in the pages. Although I can convert these to vector format in Illustrtor, it's too much trouble. Any of the designs that are useful can be found in other books (many packaging template books have many identical templates and even use the same photos). There are far too many stands, easles and display items and too few actual "boxes". Each page of the book shows a template and a 2'x2" black & white photo of the completed item made with white cardstock. These pics are really too small to see any detail. For the price, I'd suggest going with another book.
There's no doubt that this book has an awesome amount of different display box designs unlike any other book out there. But it's not functional. The CD-ROM is lame because all of the files are JPEG. You can open up the pictures and...then what? I was hoping to be able to use the files ultimately to design with them not to just look at the same pictures on a CD-ROM that I can see in the book.

The other issue is that there are NO DIMENSIONS in the book or on the CD-ROM. So, you see all the display box pictures and design drawings but there are no dimensions on any of them. I understand that you can size the specs for a smaller or larger box...whichever suits your project. But there could be SOME dimensions by inches and centimeters just to give you an idea of the sizing on each size of the box to make sure the overall dimensions are suitable for the project at hand.

Nice book. Too bad I can't use it for anything other than to get "somewhat" of an idea on the type of box I want to consider designing. However, I will definitely need different tools in order to make that happen.
With over 500 templates, there are plenty of ideas for packaging and gift giving. Having them on CD is great. The lack of assembly instructions doesn't bother me as I have lots of experience with similar templates. The one thing that keeps me from giving it 5 stars is that some of templates don't work as is. The first one I picked out to try was the #458 Gift Carrier. There is no tab to attach the sides together and one of the tabs to close the lid is backwards. I am able to make the changes so that it works, but it also means that I will have to do a trial run of all the templates to see if they're actually usable as is.
Not much other than a book of templates. But that and the cd of usable images was what I needed.
Wonderful book, with a CD that allows you to print over 500 templates for creating boxes, many with unusual shapes for making gift boxes, display boxes, dispenser boxes, sectioned boxes. Can be used in creating craft items, but is also very useful for professional and/or commercial designs.
Comes with a CD-ROM for no reason.
The design templates are in no other than .jpg format, hence far from ready to use and experiment with. Might as well have said that the owner was free to scan the book and experiment and save the CD.
Furthermore, there are plenty of mistakes in the templates.
By the way, same problem detected with Functional Packaging Prototypes
While this book shows lots of great ideas, as another reviewer mentioned, the templates are useless if they are not vector files that could be imported into cutting software. I've tried all manner of pixel trace procedures, but I still can't get any of these to work properly.
I found the templates useless as jpegs and the samples very basic at best. You are better off finding a packaging you like, purchase it and reverse engineering it. I do a lot.
