Terry Winters (born 1949, Brooklyn, NY) is an American painter, draughtsman, and printmaker whose nuanced approach to the process of painting has addressed evolving concepts of spatiality and expanded the concerns of abstract art. His attention to t. . His attention to the process of painting and investigations into systems and spatial fields explores both non-narrative abstraction and the physicality of modernism.

Established Representation. For the past 30 years, Terry Winters has occupied the same New York studio since his very first exhibition. A painter, draftsman, and printmaker, Winters began exhibiting in New York in 1977 after his graduation from Pratt Institute in 1971. While his early paintings possess a minimalism influenced by Brice Marden, his work evolved to depict organic shapes and abstracted images of botanicals, and schematic references to scientific processes.
