The Cure’s Robert Smith is perhaps one of the most beloved musical icons of our day. A living legend, Smith’s mainstream popularity is shocking if looked at objectively-as the 60-year-old musician is in many ways lauded as the patron saint of misfits and outcasts. Regardless of this, Smith has undeniably has a spellbinding ability to compose passionate music that brings together fandom who know that, however odd or ordinary, they are indeed not alone. Such is the case with Robert Smith, whose backcombed hair has superseded that of Albert Einstein’s in the echelon of wild hairdos. This taken together with his messy use of lipstick and eyeliner created the archetype for what is Goth.

While the Cure's eighth album was one of their gloomiest, it yielded their sweetest and biggest single, inspired by the love of Robert Smith's life. And all along the way, a girl named Mary Poole, who inspired "Lovesong" and soon after that became Mrs. Smith, had been by Robert's side.

Mixed Up is a 1990 remix album by British rock band The Cure. The songs are remixes of some of their hits, reflecting the popularity of remixing of existing songs and dance culture of the late 1980s and early 1990s. In 2018, a sequel was released titled Torn Down. Most of the songs are extended mixes.

The Cure have been around for over 30 years now, and it is a little disheartening that the only major biography of them, Never Enough by Jeff Apted, is out of print. The books one finds when browsing are usually fan books. I do not think author David Fargier would disagree with me in describing his After The Rain as a fan book, because he himself states as much in the Preface. The story of The Cure is the story of Robert Smith. Various musicians have come and gone, but the group is obviously his project.

Robert James Smith (born 21 April 1959) is an English singer, songwriter, musician, and record producer. He is the lead singer, guitarist, t, primary songwriter, and only continuous member of the rock band the Cure, which he co-founded in 1976. He was also the lead guitarist for the band Siouxsie and the Banshees from 1982 to 1984, and was part of the short-lived group the Glove in 1983

The Cure, live at Glastonbury 2019. The Cure‘s Robert Smith has revealed that the goth-rock icons have three new albums in the works – with the first potentially arriving before the end of 2019. After previously revealing that their next effort will be shaped by the darkness of losing his mother, father and brother, Smith confirmed plans for a release before the end of the year in a new interview with Zocalo. Smith said: I feel intent on it being a 2019 release and would be extremely bitter if it isn’t.

This isn't one of the more important or insightful Cure books authorized or not. The pictures inside have pretty much been seen on the internet. A completist or die hard fan might enjoy this book. A newcomer to The Cure is better off with Never Enough or The Cure and Wishful Thinking.

The first part is a basic overview of the history of The Cure up until the very early part of Porl Thompson's return before 4:13 was released. Some of the information is a bit off and can be disproven by videos on You Tube. The second part are magazine articles about Robert and the band.

Order from Cleopatra Records directly if you can, it's more fun.
