Arranged rhetorically, this anthology of short essays and paragraphs suits both essay-level developmental writing and low-level freshman composition courses. Each chapter focuses on a different rhetorical mode, including narration, description, and process writing. The Eighth Edition features an engaging mix of nonfiction, fiction, and student essays that reflect careful consideration of cross-cultural issues. Pedagogical tools have been updated to offer developmental students exactly what they need to master the content, including pre-reading, vocabulary, and post-reading questions that test comprehension and encourage critical analysis of each selection.

I got this book for college, and I enjoyed reading it. I think it explains the basic rules to properly analyzing readings, such as essays and short stories. In addition to that, the books comes with sample stories and essays that help its readers better understand important concepts of analytical reading. After reading this book, I could easily scan the text off a document or book. I highly recommend this book to people who want to boost or refresh their reading skills.

Funny duck
I tried to take notes while I read the book but I read so fast that I was unable to catch up.
There is amazing letters on almost every page. If read in the right direction letters become words and words start to make sense.
I am baffled how so many letters fit in a book that size.
Truly a great buy.
Book is good. I like all the different essays that are written in the book. The examples help with any type of essay you maybe writing about.
