Robert Ogilvie Crombie is probably best known as one of the seminal figures in the history of the Findhorn Foundation community in northern Scotland. He was the elderly Scottish gentleman who spoke with nature spirits. But there was much more to this man's life and work than just his association with Findhorn. Lists with This Book. This book is not yet featured on Listopia.

From his private diaries, it quickly becomes obvious that Ogilvie was certainly no ordinary gentleman. ROC could legitimately lay claim to being a magician and functioned as mediator between the alienated elemental beings of the nature kingdoms and mankind, successfully bringing together these two diverging streams. Mind-boggling as this material may be, this book asserts that Ogilvie honestly reported the events as they happened to him.

Robert Ogilvie Crombie is probably best known as one of the seminal figures in the history of the Findhorn Foundation community in northern Scotland. He was the elderly Scottish gentleman who spoke with nature spirits. But there was much more to this man's life and work than just his association with Findhorn. As a scientist, hermetic magician, and a researcher of the psychic realms, he was in many ways a key figure in the history of esotericism in the twentieth century. His story is less-well known than it could be simply because he worked in solitude and privacy. He did not write books and did not take students or attempt to found a group or an esoteric school. When he shared some of his inner work with the world at large, he did so through the lens of the Findhorn community. In so doing, he exerted a powerful influence on the imagination and spiritual work of thousands of people around the globe, particularly in how they view humanity's relationship and responsibility to the natural world. For anyone interested in the history of Findhorn, the Western occult and magical traditions, or the life of a working adept, this book is a must-read.

I spent 20 years at Findhorn and knew of the significance of ROC on the community. However, reading this comprehensive account of his life gave me much I did not know about him. The chapter on life between life is a good summary on the subject and helped to explain much that is unusual in ROC's life and his connection with advanced souls. I am grateful to the author for bringing such a wonderful and inspiring message to the world.

Extracts from the diaries of the extremely out-of-the-ordinary life of ROC, one of the key figures of the Findhorn community. The book is a fascinating read, but oddly I found the order of the chapters baffling and illogical. While this is a very minor criticism, it would have been helpful to give the reader the most accessible highlights of his life in Part I: Ages of Man (ROCs early life), Nature Kingdoms, Supranormal Abilities, Music, Power Points, Thought and Light & Dark. Then in Part II give the more obscure material about ROC: Who was ROC, Spiritual Teachers, Jungian Dreams, Space Connection, Channeling, Conclusions and the LBL (life between life) material that is given at the beginning of the book. The LBL material could be mentioned in the introduction, but putting it at the beginning before everything else is awkward. While this is not a book that is likely to appeal to a mass audience, it would flow better to give the parts that are easier to grasp first and then delve into the deeper mysterious depths after the groundwork has been set. It would also be interesting to know what books were in his 5K library but who knows if it still exists or such a list was kept.

I found this book opened me up spiritually. Just reading some everyday, I was drawn into ROC's world and found an incredible raising of energy. This sounds so stupid what I'm writing. But it's true. This is a powerful book. Perhaps the most powerful spiritual book I've ever read. Thanks to Gordon, and ROC, for making this tremendous and important work available.

Really great book about one of the founders of Findhorn community in Scotland and his experiences with the Spirit World, especially Nature Spirits. Written in a humble and straight forward way, these are journals that have been edited and were never meant for the public originally. I was very excited to read them, and learned much about the subtleties in the natural world. The anecdotes could seem far-fetched for those who are not open to stories about this realm but if you are interested in this topic, it was one of the most fascinating books I've ever read.
