Pine Ridge Portraits ( all 3 books) are definitely Good Reads. Stephanie Grace Whitson obviously knows God,s Word intimately  . My first book by Stephanie Grace Whitson, and the first one I read in the Pine Ridge Portraits series, Footprints on the Horizan captured my imagination from the start and did not let go until the last page. I am a huge fan of authors who can take a well-known historical event and tell it from a different perspective, one that people don't know much about, and Stephanie accomplishes that in a wonderful fashion here.

Two-time Christy Award finalist Stephanie Grace Whitson’s Pine Ridge Portraits series, based in Fort Robinson .

Two-time Christy Award finalist Stephanie Grace Whitson’s Pine Ridge Portraits series, based in Fort Robinson Nebraska, is immensely popular. Now it’s World War II, and a group of Nazi POWs has been brought to Fort Robinson. The townsfolk, already heartworn from the loss of many men, are divided in their feelings about the prisoners. Whitson’s portraits will bring back some familiar faces and introduce new ones as the community struggles to come together in the faith of a God who loves unconditionally.

This book took a different spin and covered a new historical period. I was challenged to read it because I was not able to see that the book would flow as well as author, Stephanie Grace Whitson, has been able to knit her other stories together. The book is deserving of a 5 Star rating because Whitson wrote a book that measured up to the standards of her previous stories.

This is the first book I ever read by this author. This story drew me right into it. No matter what side of a war people are on their hopes and dreams are the same. The book is a very good and interesting read. I positively recommend to sll.

A wonderful mix of loveable and stubborn characters , mixed with history come alive makes for a great story . It was hard to have it end.

I like the mix of history and emotions into the story. My mom talked about the POW's on her place. I can identify.

This was a pleasure to read. The story flowed as smooth as glass. Never got bogged down in words and descriptions. The characters were wonderful and real. My emotions got a real work out!

I truly enjoyed this series. I recommend these books to all. The history was amazing and the characters were so catching.
This is readable and thought-provoking. How would I have reacted to German POWs living in my town? How would I have managed if my husband had returned from war maimed? Whitson's characters are real people with conflicting emotions who face situations that can be very perplexing.
