I have to say I had high expectations for this book (I liked Dusty in the last book) and I was a bit disappointed. That could be my own fault for setting the bar high to begin with but the characters seem to be all talk but no action. Dusty is supposed to be Damian's assassin. I expected more action, more fighting, more attitude, more confrontation and just more all round. The first book was Damian and Sofi's story and this one was Dustin and Bianca's story, and both books make these relationships a primary focus of the story, and yet the relationships aren't really developed in a meaningful way (and the author seems to avoid any kind of written intimacy like the plague).

For the that reason, I removed one star. Although, I love the premise of the story and I love the characters, I don't like the way the story is told because it leaves out the specific details I want to hear about, and glosses over the relationship aspect even though it's a major focus. I'm not explaining myself properly but I guess compared with other stories I've read, I just didn't feel any depth to their emotions, and those feelings and emotions are what allow us as readers to delve deep and connect with characters because we can relate to those feelings ourselves.

It ends up being a bit of a tease because it's such a great story but the author won't give it all to me!

I removed a second star because the story was also very predictable, and I had the ending pegged from the beginning - no surprises. There could be a little bit more mystery to keep me guessing. The best stories are the ones where I come up with 6 possible theories and when I get to the end, I'm still surprised because it's not exactly what I thought, or not what I thought at all. But this was waaaaay too predictable. I almost knew what was going to happen every time I turned a page.

I love the stories and I think the author just needs to work on writing in some more details and making the plot a little more intricate.

This is the story of how Dusty finds his mate. I have to say this story wasn't really what I was expecting, for one Dusty comes across as an ass most of the time and Bianca (Dusty's mate) is kind of a push over but it works in the story even though I would have liked her to have more of a backbone.
When we see Dusty's house in the eyes of Bianca I think everyone would have the urge to mess up his white and black no dust house a bit. It would kind of drive me insane. Dusty has a problem with getting passed what happened to his sister (it happened a long time ago) and Bianca in her own way helps him get passed it. Darian (the gray god) I love in this book, the way he acts like adolescent does bring some laughs but at the same time shows how his past has effected him so much. We dont see much of Jules or the white god and for that I'm kind of sad about but at the same time we get to know the other characters better and meet new ones. Jen is the Guardian that every man wants and since she had a friends with benefits arrangement with Dusty I was all for hating her and her to be mean to Bianca but to my surprise Jen is a really likable character. She actually pushes Dusty to go to Bianca.
This book has a lot of pain and death in it but it also has new beginnings for a lot of people. Damian's Assassin was a good read and it flowed really well I could have finished it in one sitting but life got in the way.

I am really enjoying the Damian's series. I find that the theme is fun and has some serious potential for greatness. I've enjoyed the first book, Damian's Oracle as well as this one. My one and only major problem is the skipping over the actual love scenes. I actually had to read between the lines to even come to the conclusion that there was some sex going on. I'm not saying I have to have it in a book but if it's there I don't want to skip over it. It makes me feel like I've missed something.

Alright, that being said I cannot wait for the next in the series. (I'm hoping there are more.) Bianca is a healer and her brother is always getting into trouble. So when she finds him turned into a vampire she runs to his aid but while trying to help her brother she's kidnapped by Talon, a vampire. Enter, Damian's assassin, Dusty. He comes into save the day and take out all the vampires. Unfortunately, there's more going on then just the vampire invasion.

The supporting characters are strong and I really enjoy what they lend to the story. The Watcher, Sofi, Darian. The one thing that got me this time were the extra people that were introduced. I had a difficult time following, Toni, Iggy and ... to be honest, I can't remember the other's name. Sheck? It was hard to keep them straight.

The world building is fun and amazing. Especially, the in between. It was fun to read.

Started out reading the sci-fi fantasy Kiera's Moon by Lizzy Ford which I absolutely loved so I tried Damian's Assassin next (out of order). I love sci-fi, fantasy and paranormal but have never been into vampires. Even though there are vampires in this book I still really liked it because the vampires are not the central theme of the book, simply an aspect of the evil the Black God represents. The central theme is really the constant push and pull between forces protecting the human race (The White God & the Guardians) and the forces who would destroy humans (The Black God & vampires). Some aspects of Damian's Assassin made no sense because I had not read Damian's Oracle first but it was exciting enough that I read it all the way through without putting it down. I've since read Damian's Oracle and it's good but I liked Damian's Assassin so much more. Definitely worth a read for adults and teens. There is very limited explicit language and no explicit sex scenes for parents concerned about that sort of thing.

This continues the story from the 1st with all the characters from the first book. I enjoyed the first book more because it had more action but this was still a good read. Good characters, some suspense and action, some romance and Gods and Demigods.
