This book is like an enormous hypodermic needle that injects a whopping dose of fun into a clear and interesting elucidation of the theory of relativity. It provides a step by step explanation of what would otherwise be difficult-to-understand mathematical and scientific principles. Every page is fun, and every page contains another nugget of information that left me dumbfounded -- not by the theories and the math -- but by the fact that I was able to follow and understand them. The theory is presented with humor, with a clear grasp of the history behind Einstein's ability to follow this elusive and confounding journey. Think for a moment of what the word relativity means! It means that something can be either one thing, or another, or another depending on certain circumstances. And Einstein, who once said that his greatest gift was not his intelligence, but his healthy sense of skepticism, explains very clearly the way in which time itself (which we always think of as a constant) is relative. The measure of time depends on the speed at which we're moving. If you want to understand this principle, and see what can then be done with the relativity of time, then this is the book for you.

I had read this book years ago, and although the material is presented in an entertaining and interesting way, I had trouble understanding how Einstein came to his conclusions. Having now read it again, I was able to follow his thinking, but still cannot grasp his theory as it pertains to time. However, I can certainly recommend this book for anyone who wants to approach his work in a very humorous way. I wish schools would have had this for a textbook, rather than the dry and boring material they tend to favor. I actually bought this book to give away, and since I knew what it was, since I already had a copy that I recently found, it would be ridiculous for me to not recommend it.

It is certainly unique in dealing with a very heavy subject in a very light hearted manner. For young people and those who might be intimidated by ole Albert, here is an approach that makes it fun.

A great introductory book on Einstein's life and all the other great scientists which helped him arrive at his famous equation. The discussions are simple, yet complete and the associated cartoons are both enjoyable and thought provoking. I gave my original copy to a friend and purchased two more for another friend and for myself.

I loaned this book to someone about 25 years ago, never to see it again. I remembered it fondly, and wanted to see how it held up. I must say, this is maybe the best introduction to Einstein's work I've read. It is clear, concise, enjoyable and walks you through the proofs of a couple of famous equations. I highly recommend this book. The whole "Beginners" series is great.

I would have rated 5 stars - but only gave it 4 because it needed to delve deeper into Einstein and his work. I think almost 1/2 of the book was history leading up to Einstein. However, that said, this is a GREAT READ, so funny - it is all done in Cartoons! Loved it - once I started I couldn't stop and I read the whole thing in one sitting.

This 'comic book' series deftly handles some challenging material. This book is no exception. Most of the books in the series seem a bit slanted, okay a lot, to the political left. Still, plenty to learn from them. A quick read, inexpensive, and you will learn something. Pretty good deal for not much money.

This book is a very engaging tool for acquainting young people with Einstein and his work. My son enjoyed the cartoons and appreciated the fact that the author included personal biographical information as well as professional history. The book is most appropriate for middle schoolers on up.
