Global Financial Integration: The End Of Geography. Often O'Brien provides a broader and subtler view than most people who write about globalization by noting such points as the way integration changes identities, how alterations of financial markets change the function of money and why competition policy will become increasingly important (and difficult).

His book The End of History and the Last Man (Hamish Hamilton) was published in 1992. The ‘End of Geography’ seems a more apposite phrase to describe a world where distances have shrunk and communications are instantaneous.
