Robert Traver's Trout Magic is more or less a collection of digestible fly fishing stories he has published in various magazines. If you are a fly fisherman or are familiar with the UP of Michigan, you might like it. If not, you should probably take a pass. The overall effect is mildly charming as you learn about the setting for most of the stories in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Traver himself is no slouch, apparently having quit a career as a judge in Michigan to fish and write.

Traver's fishing books are so good. I revisit them every couple years and loan them out to my fishing partners between trips. Traver does such an amazing job of capturing the essence fly fishing and revealing much of the silliness involved in our craft. A worn copy of these masterpieces would be the perfect gift for any angler in your life.

I found Traver via Gierach, and boy am I glad I did. Built from the same ilk, and every bit as entertaining. Not everyone likes reading about other fisherman's adventures, but I think even those could be swayed by Traver's perspectives on the sport, and entertaining delivery. Big fan!!!

The physical book was in excellent condition, and arrived within the projected timeframe.
The book's contents would be enjoyable for anyone interested in reading "outdoors"
stories and adventures. The author's style is enjoyable not only for outdoors enthusiasts but also
for those of us who are fly fishermen/trout fishermen...and who identify with the author's stories
of fly fishing adventures.

A fun way to look back into to a different time. But yet, even in the good old days fishing was not always better.
Like Trout Madness, this one by Traver is just fun to read. He writes with a light touch and real wisdom.
