The title 'Damage Control' is spot on for this book.

Trouble comes in threes, beginning when Dana's brother is murdered. If Robert Dugoni's novel Damage Control were a painting, it would be a stark landscape done in bold blacks and whites with splashes of blood red and portraits made difficult to look at by their lack of shading. He'd also force his viewers to re-evaluate their definitions of success based on the colors he chose to paint that particular holy grail. The title 'Damage Control' is spot on for this book.

Robert Vincent Dugoni (born February 17, 1961) is an American author currently living in Seattle, Washington. They are sold worldwide in more than 25 countries. Growing up the middle child in a family of ten siblings, Dugoni jokes that he did not get much of a chance to talk, so he wrote. By the seventh grade he knew he wanted to be a writer.

The television chirped at him like a bird at the first light of day. He peeked through the thick curtain pulled across the hotel window and squinted at the bright stream of sunlight. ep, or likely passed out. During the night, he’d gotten up and used the gap in the curtain as a portal to the parking lot, watching intently for any sign of the blond man with the dark sunglasses. It was him. Cole was sure of it. Damn sure. Shit, how could he forget?

This is the 9th Robert Bugoni book I have read and I have to say that the guy is a great story teller, but he really is in need of a good editor. There are small ends that are not tied up in most of his books as well as grammar and spelling errors that are hard to ignore. That being said, this is a great story and really held my attention.
The story line and many different characters held my interest thru most of the book. I did find some of the minor characters a bit disgusting though. Overall, it was a pretty good novel and I will be reading more of Mr. Dugonis novels. I can relate to the author's mother having breast cancer. I lost my dear mother with breast cancer in 1993.
A real page turner with murders, domestic abuse, politics! Dana Hill is devastated by the murder of her twin brother. She joins forces with a detective and they uncover a world where it is no holds barred to get what you want -especially if you're rich.
In spite of some of the less than stellar reviews, this book (my first by Mr. Dugoni) was a good read. The usual superlatives--a page turner, fast paced et al--fit it well. The plot may to some be well known. But aren't all plots nothing more than reworked plots from Shakespeare?

I particularly liked the way the author blended two major concerns that women face:breast cancer and abuse. How these can play a part in a mystery may seem off course. But the way they are presented and the impact they have on major female characters is interesting and well done. The story itself about murder and powerful people who think they can have it all is not overshadowed by these themes. On the contrary they are woven well into the fabric of the plot as it develops.

For me particularly, I enjoyed the way Mr. Dugoni portrays the wealthy senator wannabe president as a typical politician who will stop at nothing to achieve his eogmanical goal. As one who detests most politicians, I thought he portrayed this character true to form.

Lawyers seem to be increasingly prolific writers of mystery/crime novels. I didn't think I could deal with another one, but Damage Control proved me wrong.

Why 4 stars? There's always room for improvement.

Three words sum it up for me: I liked it!
So far I have loved all of Dugoni's books and look forward to reading the few I haven't read yet. He is an excellent writer and "Damage Control" is certainly a compelling story that keeps moving from beginning to end. The protagonist, Dana Hill, is a strong and very intelligent woman who has more going on in her life than most people can deal with. The basic story is well described in other reviews so I won't repeat what has already been said. The book contains very interesting characters who are brought to life by Dugoni's excellent writing to make you really care about the main characters and hate the bad guys. Dana's deteriorating relationship with her husband and and emerging relationship with the lead detective makes the book a more personal story as well as an exciting thriller. Don't miss this one!
Robert Dugoni never disappoints. He has a fabulous grasp of how to make a story exciting and keep you on the edge of your seat through whole book. I always hate for the end to come and it never comes exactly the way I expect.
One of the side benefits to reviewing books on Amazon is that friends of mine are often on the lookout for books for me to read which is how I happened to find Robert Dugoni and this rather mesmerizing book, Damage Control.

It is not until nearly the books end, that a murder which takes place in the first chapter falls into place and becomes a part of the entire canvas that Dugoni has painted. The central figure in the montage is Dana Hill, a Seattle lawyer who's life is becoming over stressed as she learns (1) of the murder of her brother in what appears to be a burglary gone bad (2) that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer and eventually (3) that her husband is cheating on her. Putting everything on the back burner except the murder of her brother, Hill becomes involved in trying to unravel the reasons behind his killing and in so doing she finds that there are powerful forces who not only wanted her brother dead, but they are deterimined to see that the real reason behind his killing never becomes known and are willing to keep killing to make sure it doesn't.

Tightly written with memorable characters, this is a novel you should not let pass you by.
The senator had announced his intentions to run for the President of the United States office. He had lead the voting public to believe that he was honest and deserving of their votes, but underneath it was just the opposite. He was guilty of murder, hiring people to kill for him and treating his wife as if she was nothing. Deceit, love, murder, and numerous threats wouldn't cover the disciple person that he really was. Good reading and a surprise ending awaits those that would venture to read Damage Control.
