i picked up this book used at some bookstore for the reason that i have a strong interest in the desert.
For two years and 25,000 miles Quentin Crewe, photographer Timothy Beddow, and various more or less durable companions roamed the greatest desert in the world. It is not the most hospitable of places, especially for a man in a wheelchair. i picked up this book used at some bookstore for the reason that i have a strong interest in the desert. but actually, NOT in the Sahara, so i didn't really expect a whole lot from it. oh my goodness, what beautiful writing by Crewe, the best part, imo, being how he describes every sort of situation and encounter without being judgmental.

QUENTIN CREWE was a traveller, writer and journalist but above all .
QUENTIN CREWE was a traveller, writer and journalist but above all a man of extraordinary charm and resilience. Crewe was thrown out of the vehicle but landed relatively unscathed, only to be interrogated by the military in the nearby town of Nouadhibou. Crewe continued to work as a journalist, to write about food, good living and travel.
