This series of books by photographer David R. Stoecklein brings into focus a few of the most important elements of cowboy gear-boots, spurs, and buckles. The quality and superb craftsmanship of some of these exquisite pieces shine through in these images.

There is often a vivid story behind each western belt buckle that speaks of the tradition and rich heritage of cowboy life. A cowboy is extremely proud of his buckles and often passes them down to his children or grandchildren. The buckles on these pages are beautifully made, ornate, and detailed. Most are made of sterling silver and solid gold and many are adorned with precious stones, intricate filigree work, and engraving.

WOW! The author/photographer, David Stoecklin, obviously savours his subject, it shows on every page - from rodeo gear to working ranch saddle, prized collectibles & stunning parade outfits, every picture is beautifully composed.

There are superbly detailed pictures of saddle tooling (both plain & ornate), fabulous silverwear, breastplates & tapaderos, right through to downright dirty/dusty functional working gear.

I bought this book as a reference for my saddler, as I'm having an "old timer" made for my Appaloosas - this book has supplied me with stunning, detailed pictures to ensure my saddle is true to type in it's colour, tooling & overall finish (aside from my saddler's own wonderful input!).

I highly recommend it as a reference guide to saddles past & present, it is a wonderful tribute to the fine art of western saddles by a man who knows his stuff & loves his work!
